Club Kids Raise Funds For Vandalized Community Garden | Boys & Girls Clubs Of Ada County

We are very proud of our kids for their positivity and eagerness to give back to their community. Today, our kids at our Boise Bench Club location, along with our Director of Operations, Joey Schueler, proudly presented Amy Pence-Brown a check for $352.00 to go towards Hawthorne Elementary School’s Idaho Native Plants Learning Landscape & Teaching Garden, which was vandalized last month.

To counter the act of vandalism, our kids held a benefit car wash and collected donations from the community to raise funds for the garden. An anonymous Club supporter generously matched all funds they raised. All funds will go towards new plants, signage, educational materials, and supplies for the garden.

Thank you, Amy Pence-Brown and Hawthorne Elementary School for allowing us to turn such a disheartening act into a positive and valuable experience for our kids. They not only learned the value of community but also how much effort it takes to undo a single, thoughtless act. Thank you also to everyone who came to support our kids at the car wash. We are so grateful to live in such a fantastic community comprised of so many thoughtful, caring citizens!
