The Moseley Center’s Alyssa Spiering and Connor Heikkila joined forces last week to spread the word about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County and recruit new volunteers! Hosted at JUMP Boise, the occasion was modeled after a “speed dating” event and included a wide variety of local nonprofits and community members. It worked like this: each group of community members would have eight to ten minutes to sit and chat with a nonprofit to hear more about their organization and what they were searching for. In our case, it was for more volunteers.
Our members really benefit from their connection to positive role models, which is why volunteers are so important. With as many kids in attendance as we have, it’s always amazing to have extra adults around to make sure that all the kids are receiving a positive experience at the club.
Connor and Alyssa met with a lot of really engaging and interesting community members that were excited to get on board to help out at the Moseley Center. We even had some fill out paper applications on the spot! In addition to regular volunteers, we met many great individuals interested in setting up various ten-week programs that range from STEM programs to anti-bullying projects!
Great job, Connor and Alyssa!
